Band Instrument Service or Repair Department
Long Tradition of Service and Repair
Our owner stated as an apprentice band instrument repairman in 1955 and worked at that profession until after American Band Instrument Service opened in 1990. We have the word “SERVICE” in our name and naturally we have an outstanding repair facility that is second to none. Our service department makes the studying and performing of music easier, more fun, and better for thousands of musicians both young and old every year.
Band Instrument Cleaning
Instrument Cleaning: A wind instrument makes music by, Ta Da!, blowing air through the instrument. This causes food particles, dried saliva, and so forth to be left in the inside bore of the horn. To keep the instrument playing it’s best, for health reasons, and to prolong the life of the horn, it is recommended the instruments be cleaned and adjusted every year and sometimes more often.
Ultrasonic Band Instrument Cleaning
American Band Instrument Service was the first music store in East Texas to acquire an Ultrasonic Cleaning Machine. Ultrasonic cleaners are considered a superior method of cleaning, and so now most shops have followed us in using them instead of older methods. Ultrasonic cleaners are how diamond rings are cleaned.
Woodwind Instruments like Flutes, Clarinets, and Saxophones
Woodwind instrument can come out of adjustment just by handling the instrument, or simply putting it together and taking it apart. Wood instrument should also be oiled regularly. Also, the inside bore should be professionally cleaned every year. In most schools the first lessons of beginning musicians include how to put their instrument together correctly without damage. However, they are sometimes in a hurry, etc. Just the turning of a tiny screw or bending a key a little bit by a gifted technician can make their musicianship so much better and easier. Professional musicians know if the instrument has a problem. Most of the time young ones think it is themselves with the problem and don’t even think about the instrument. This can even cause a child to drop out of music and thus believe that they have no musical talent for rest of their lives, when in reality it is just a small adjustment to their instrument. You should make a point of having it checked, at least every six months.
